Take Your Time!

Lace- is an openwork fabric patterned with open holes in the work made by machine or hand.

Whenever there is something attached to your head, whether it be glued or sewn, YOU NEED TO TAKE EXTRA TIME AND CARE TO COMB GENTLY...Even when you comb your natural hair, you must be gentle. Hair sheds naturally on it's own daily much less yanking the rest out with impatience and harsh brushing.
To me, lace fronts and weaves are too much of an investment to abuse. Take your time and use the proper tools to groom your natural fibres!

Cut and Style,Make it Yours

Ladies...Ladies...Ladies..Please...Please...When you have finished getting your lace front or weaves applied correctly, why do you feel like that's it? It's just an empty canvas wanting to be customized to come alive to enhance your beautiful features. Not to display your not so beautiful ones! Don't just leave without professionally cutting and styling your top quality investment!!! That's what separates you from the rest. It's yours and no one else's!!!!! It's these little details that make the big difference.

Charlene “Goldilocks ” Shillingford

Well first and foremost I’d like to welcome you all to the ASK GOLDILOCKS open blog, this blog will touch on everything and anything you need to know about hair. And if I haven’t addressed your questions or concerns you- ASK GOLDILOCKS.

Before I bless my very first blog entry with hair my hair knowledge, I’d like to tell my readers a little about myself:

Since we are communicating thorough a virtual outlet you can’t sense the air around me; I live, I breath, I sleep hair. Hair is my passion, hair is my hobby, hair was my very first love. For all you artist out there I’m sure you can understand where I’m coming from, and for those of you who don’t let me explain.

My very first client was my superstar Barbie Head. She had real cuticle hair, the ideal oval face, long angular neck and best of all- she was silent! Superstar Barbie was my best client (no offence to my other client I value you all in your own special way). I took all necessary measures to achieve the right look, I changed her hair as I changed my mood. I did to her what I secretly wanted to do to myself. I began to live vicariously through the doll. It was through this doll an artist was born- thanks Mattel!

Hair is what I believe in, hair is what I know. After 23 years of intensive product knowledge, thorough hair analysis, scalp psychoanalysis, chemical analysis, and a little psychology (you need to study the head inside before you can beautify it outside). Hands-on training at a number of educational institutes; National Institute of Cosmetology, Topaz Basic and Advanced School of Hair Design to name a few. Am I accredited by apprenticeships, seminars, workshops, degrees, innovating my own business Hair Movements International, and ultimately colliding to forces with my latest undertaking; a collaboration with Rupunzel’s Hair Boutique. Through my many experiences I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with many wonderful people, and also share my expertise of hair as my skill, hair as my passion hair as my art.

One of my prized abilities is the tool of reconstruction. I can bring anything back to life, I can make each client look his or her best and emote an unimaginable beauty. I can see in others what they can’t see in themselves, and I know what’s needed to achieve and maintain that distinctive look for each person. I stride to create personable, low maintenance, natural designs that clients need not worry about during their everyday lives. I take pleasure in providing “hair therapy”, when the going gets tough, or when a boost of confidence is needed- my chair is open. I love being their to lend an ear, a word or just a helping hand. These hands I have are not as simple as they seem; each finger can tell a story, each knuckle bends a special ways. My hands are the window to my expression, and through them I want to touch the world “one strand at a time”.

But before art, before hair I am a proud mother of three sons, they make me whole and with them I heighten my artist abilities and gather additional creative expression.

God, music and hair are the balance I need to keep going and they continues to light the flames of my passion on a daily basis. Through them I am paid spiritually, emotionally, and financially. I am grateful for these things because they allow me to be myself , and grant me the humble bearing to be me and continue to touch peoples lives.

On that note Goldilocks says; “Come out of the box! Try new things; wigs curls, long and sexy, short and sassy, hi-lites, lo-lites, foils, weaves- something”

Quotes to remember:

“Wear your hair, don’t let it wear you”
“Wear the right style to bring off the right outfit and event”
“Make it your own; work it! Work it! Work it”
“Less is Best”
“Keep it light and flowing”
And last but not least……………
Ladies remember men love hair that is soft, sexy and free of product that they can run their hands through and vast in the natural pleasant aroma.
