Why do people feel that just because hair is attached to their head means that they are experts in dealing with hair? That person may have been practising 'bad habits' for so long that they may believe that they are 'good habits'. As a matter of fact, 'good genes' could have been the reason why their hair hasn't dropped out!!! Different textures handle different abuse!!
Just the way you go to the doctor for medical assistance, or a mechanic for your car, go to the hair salon for your hair needs! Don't just jump into chemicals, hair colors, glues, relaxers, gels etc. until you know the right measurements for that particular hair texture and length combination, it could be very hazardous to your hair!!! What works for one may not work for the other! Hair doesn't grow overnight! Patience, care and nurturing makes all the difference. The least amount of pushing and pulling(abuse), treatments and proper consultations can give it room to grow freely.

Seeing is Believing!

When conducting your search for a new style or service, look for someone who takes pride in their work, does their research, and practices good work ethics. What are their crudentials? Who are their clientele and what is their feedback?
If I see someone who has "that look" that I want, stop them and ask them politely where did they get that style and ask for a card or number. Then you can take it from there.
Remember, you can't judge a stylist by their card!!!

Communicate

Communication and trust is key. If the other party understands and trusts what you are saying, you will be successful at getting your point across.
Being a hairstylist, being honest and straight forward works best. Clients have ideas and wishes that can be expressed but not necessarily performed. Listening to what they want and explaining what can safely be done will work only if the client trusts you.
Whenever there is a problem with your style or service, don't just leave and go somewhere else! I can guarantee that there is a communication gap that could easily be resolved once both parties choose to listen to one another, work together ,and meet each other halfway. Leaving and going somewhere else to complain doesn't look good for any of the parties involved. The news carrier is usually worse than the news giver!! Take your time to resolve the situation first and then if there is no resolution, then you can move on to another stylist that can suit to please. Remember, if you don't deal with your issues before you move on, that issue just might come up again!!

Ladies...Ladies...Ladies...Please...Please...Please...When you have finished getting your lace front applied correctly, why do you feel like that's it? It's just an empty canvas wanting to be customized to come alive and enhance your beautiful features. Not to display your not so beautiful ones! Don't just leave without professionally cutting and styling your top quality investment!!! That's what separates you from the rest. It's yours and no one else's!!! It's these little details that make the big difference.
